Which shirt should you wear this fall: an Oxford, a brushed Oxford, or a brushed twill?

In the fall, the shirt takes on a new role. It’s no longer worn on its own with the sleeves rolled up: it’s layered under a sweater, left open over a T-shirt, or buttoned up under a jacket. And above all, you want a fabric that keeps you a little warmer and is comfortable to wear all day long.

Right now, three of our shirts are available for pre-order. Same cut, same workshop in Portugal, but three very different fabrics. Here's how to choose.

Ralph, the Oxford shoe you can wear all year round

Ralph is our iconic shirt. Its Oxford fabric was developed exclusively for us by Somelos in Portugal: a 175 g/m² organic cotton that’s thicker than most Oxfords on the market. The result is a beautiful texture, excellent structure, and a shirt that looks just as good worn on its own as it does as an overshirt.

In the fall, wear it under a wool sweater with the button-down collar peeking out. It's the most versatile of the three—the one that transitions effortlessly from the office to the weekend.

Hugh, the brushed Oxford

Hugh revisits Ralph's cut in a brushed cotton Oxford. Brushed cotton is brushed on one side, giving it a felt-like texture, a soft feel, and better heat retention. It retains the texture of Oxford fabric while offering the comfort of flannel.

This is the perfect shirt for cool mornings: ideal on its own in October, or worn open over a T-shirt as a light overshirt.

Mel, the super-soft shirt

Mel is made from brushed organic cotton twill, woven at Somelos and sewn in Portugal. Twill is the diagonal weave found in denim: it’s more supple and fluid than Oxford fabric. Once brushed, it has a peach-skin texture.

It's the softest of the three—the one you'll never want to take off. And here's some good news: we managed to find a small amount of ready-made fabric at our weaver's, which allows us to add a new color—blue—in very limited quantities (sizes S through L). It will be delivered at the same time as the other colors.
